Working experience

All members of the Studio have solid careers behind them, but working together is what really makes us shine. As alumni of the European Manga Academy we have been creating amazing backgrounds and colours for international webtoon series, logos and graphics, illustrations and manga. We are now focusing on adapting novels as webtoon series and training even more artists.

Teamwork is a key skill in this industry. Our experience and efficiency translates in both the projects we devote ourselves to on behalf of our clients, and also on the original productions we are developing as a studio and which we aim to publish soon.

The Path of Ascension

Our studio has been entrusted with the complete adaptation of the novel “The Path of Ascension” as a webtoon.

Written by C. Mantis and originally published by Aethon Books, the series follows its main characters through devious obstacles and unexpected turns of events.

With each chapter, we learn to understand more and more about the universe surrounding them and its perils.

Kinfire

Our first big project has been drawing and colouring the backgrounds for the series ‘Kinfire’, scripted by Brandon Chen and commissioned by Netflix Producer Jane Hoffacker.

Born as a promotion of the board Kinfire Chronicles, created by Incredible Dream, it proved to be an incredible learning opportunity for our team, lead by the amazing Xinillus, a talented and exacting artist.

Demon Defense Agency

With Demon Defense Agency, our artists joined a series that was already ongoing.

Starting out as backup colourists and background designers, we slowly but surely became part of the team behind this captivating webtoon! Now we’re in charge of character painting and effects, as well as all of the backgrounds and items you see in the series.

Runebound

We have been working on the soon-to-be-launched Webtoon Orignal series The Return of the Runebound Professor, drawing amazing backgrounds and taking care of the colouring for the whole series!

Overtime

One more new project we’re really excited about is Overtime, to be launched in September 2024. Follow Omari’s adventures in the world of professional basket in this incredible new series!

This project is created by Overtime, with an official sponsoring by Adidas. How cool is that?! As a studio, we’re in charge of the colouring for both characters and backgrounds. But as readers, we’re also eager to read the chapters as soon as we can get our hands on them! No spoilers though, wouldn’t want to ruin anything.

What’s in a name?

What is the meaning behind our Studio’s name?
‘Simple but Fire’ is a sort of catch-phrase that we heard a lot when we first started working on the Kinfire series.
It meant that our designs needed to look simple, but be cool and effective at the same time.

A needlessy complex background takes away from the characters it’s supposed to highlight. At the same time, we take pride in our skills; being able to integrate assets and actually draw landscapes instead of pasting 3D models everywhere is something that sets us apart from other productions. The balance between making something look easy and at the same time compelling is what we are: Simple but Fire.
